BINTULU: Recipients of the Back to School 2025 – Bintulu Port Prihatin programme are encouraged to value the assistance provided and use it as a source of motivation to achieve success.
Bintulu District education officer Samri Suhaili noted that gratitude is a core value of Malaysian culture, and recipients of the aid should remember the contributions of those who have supported them.
He noted that the selected students are very fortunate to receive support from the Bintulu Port Foundation.
“Let this assistance be your motivation to succeed and later contribute back to society in the future.”
Samri said this during the Back to School 2025 – Bintulu Port Prihatin programme held at a local hotel on Thursday (Dec 19).
According to him, the programme not only provides aid to underprivileged students but also demonstrates the community’s concern for education.
He also praised the efforts of Bintulu Port Holdings Berhad (BPHB) through the Bintulu Port Foundation for their commitment to corporate social responsibility initiatives, including supporting special needs students, athletes, and other disadvantaged groups.
“BPHB is not only helping students overcome financial challenges but also contributing to their character development, leadership skills, and overall quality.”
Samri hopes that the students will make the most of this opportunity by studying diligently and eventually contributing to the country’s economic and social development.
He also stressed that education is the foundation of societal progress, while gratitude and the spirit of giving back are essential for sustaining these efforts.
A total of 200 students from low-income families across three selected primary schools—SK Kampung Baru Bintulu, SK Orang Kaya Mohammad Bintulu, and SK Tanjung Batu Bintulu—received contributions during the programme.
Samri expressed hope that these students would utilise the assistance to excel in their studies and eventually contribute to the nation’s economic and social advancement.
The Back to School 2025 – Bintulu Port Prihatin programme is an annual corporate social responsibility initiative that provides school supplies for the upcoming academic session through a strategic collaboration with the Bintulu District Education Office (PPD).
Also present were Bintulu Port Holdings Berhad general manager of stakeholder relations, Maslihah Tioh; and chief executive officer of Bintulu Port Sdn Bhd, Matshalleh Mohamad Etli.
