GEDONG: The PETRONAS Powering Knowledge: Discover PETRONAS @Schools Reach Out programme introduced engaging combustion science experiments to 150 secondary school students here today, offering an interactive and hands-on learning experience.

Through the “Combustion Show” presented by Petrosains, students explored the combustion triangle, which highlights the three elements needed to ignite fire — fuel, oxygen, and heat.

Each component was visually demonstrated, showcasing how fires are ignited and extinguished.

Students also participated in their first hands-on STEM activity, constructing solar-powered fans and scrubbing machines using basic materials and simple electric circuits.

The programme aimed to spark interest in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM), as well as Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET).

It also featured motivational talks on career opportunities in the oil and gas (O&G) industry.

PETRONAS further showcased its educational sponsorships under the Powering Knowledge initiative, with past scholars sharing their career journeys to inspire the students and highlight the company’s commitment to nurturing future talent.
