MIRI: A female student of a tertiary institution here claimed that she was raped by her housemate who is a foreigner.
The alleged rape was said to have occurred on July 19 inside a rented house in Desa Senadin here.
A police report on the matter has been lodged by the 20-something girl on July 26 at Miri central police station.
Miri deputy police chief Supt Sabri Zainol, when contacted yesterday, confirmed that the report had been lodged.
It is believed that the victim was raped while she was in an inebriated state, and she realised it when she woke up around 11am on July 19.
Police are investigating the case under Section 376 of the Penal Code, but so far no arrest has been made.
