KUCHING: A mother of five expressed her heartfelt gratitude after receiving financial assistance from Tabung Baitulmal Sarawak (TBS), which has significantly eased her burden in providing for her children.

Aisyah Affendi, 32, who remains unemployed due to her child’s medical needs, shared that the RM600 financial aid she receives every three months has been a lifeline for her family.

“I rarely receive help like this, so I am truly grateful. Alhamdulillah, as a mother of many children, this assistance is a huge relief,” she said when met at her home in Taman Sepakat Jaya.

Her youngest child, who turns three in two months, has suffered from pneumonia and chronic asthma since infancy. Frequent hospital visits have made securing a job impossible for Aisyah.

“No company is willing to hire me because I often need to take leave to accompany my child to the hospital. So, for now, I am not working and focusing on my child’s recovery,” she said.

With no steady income, Aisyah and her children depend on her 53-year-old mother, who works at a food stall in Demak.

She shared that the financial assistance is primarily used for her child’s medical needs and nutrition.

“My youngest son cannot afford to eat less because his condition makes him weaker than other children. The rest of us don’t mind going without, as long as he gets enough,” she said.

When asked about her future plans, Aisyah said that her priority is her child’s health.

“I just want my child to recover first,” she said.

She also expressed her deep appreciation to Tabung Baitulmal for the aid received.

“Thank you so much. This help allows me to survive and reduces my financial burden,” she said.

For the record, Aisyah was among the beneficiaries of TBS’ Bantuan Sara Hidup Bulanan (Monthly Living Assistance), which was distributed yesterday (March 25).

Along with the financial aid, she also received the Ramadan Love Package — a timely relief packed with essential food items.

The assistance was personally delivered to her doorstep by Sarawak State Mufti Datuk Kipli Yassin.
