KUCHING: Junior Chamber International (JCI) Malaysia Area Sarawak will strive to champion leadership development in all of their programmes’ line-up this year.
JCI Malaysia national executive vice-president cum Area Sarawak chairman Johnny Bong said his movement had recently conducted the Sarawak Academy annual event in Sarikei where 80 members of the boards of directors of all 13 JCI chapters across Sarawak attended.
“Sarawak programme is an essential programme for every JCI board member where they will be able to receive training in various vital skills needed to run an organisation effectively.
“For example, they will get to learn how to chair a meeting, how to prepare a budget and many more,” Bong said in a statement released yesterday in conjunction with JCI Sarawak’s courtesy visit to Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Deputy Minister Datuk Sebastian Ting at his office at Baitulmakmur II building here on Monday (Feb 13).
Bong revealed that during the visit, Ting was briefed on JCI Malaysia Area Sarawak’s plan of action for this year and more collaborations in the future.
“I would like to take this opportunity to thank Datuk Sebastian Ting for being very supportive to JCI movement, locally (district level) to state level, and even to national level.
“Moreover, his kind support had brought numerous positive impacts towards JCI and also the local community,” Bong stated.
During the courtesy call, Bong led his delegation which comprised its area treasurer Victor Tan, area international affairs director Yap Kuoh Haw, area public relations director Rachael Justin, and area business and economic affairs director Chin Vu Siong.
JCI Malaysia is affiliated to Junior Chamber International, a worldwide community of young active citizens, aged between 18 to 40, who are aiming to change the world, one community at a time.
