KUCHING: A change in game strategy was the factor which led to Kuching FA’s 2-0 victory over Terengganu side BTK in their M3 League match at the State Stadium, Petra Jaya, here, on Saturday.
According to Kuching FA manager, Fazzrudin Abdul Rahman, chief coach Ideris Untong has made the right decision to bring in a new strategy in the second half after an ineffective first half of the match.
“The players played according to plan. They followed the new strategy which led to the two goals,” said Fazzrudin.
Kuching FA’s first goal came in the 65th minute through an own goal by a BTK player followed by the second goal five minutes later by skipper Rafiezan Razali.

Fazzrudin said Kuching FA failed to play effectively in the first half which were made more difficult by BTK’s tough challenge, giving no room for Kuching FA to penetrate their defence.
“BTK’s tight defence foiled all our attacks. Nevertheless, we changed our game plan in the second half with more attacks and passes inside the penalty box and the plan worked, “ said the manager. Ideris’ gamble paid off to ensure the three points for the team.
Kuching FA have now gone unbeaten after winning four matches and drawing in five. Next they will play two away matches — against Tun Razak on April 27 and then Langkawi Glory on April 30. The M3 League will take a month-long break during the fasting month of Ramadan.
