MIRI: The young should seize opportunities made available to them as they will be ones who will inherit the state and country.
This is why the state government has been emphasising on the development of youths, said Deputy Minister for Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Datuk Sebastian Ting.
“Our youths are Sarawak’s important assets, and that is why the state government is embarking on various initiatives via education to empower our young people to become productive, innovative and equipped with various skills, knowledge so that they can be the best in the country,” he said.
Ting was speaking at the launching of the Sarawak Education Expo 2023 which was held simultaneously in all districts on Saturday.
“Under the leadership of Premier, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg the state is committed to ensuring it remains on track to becoming a developed state by the year 2030,” he said.
“Focusing on the strategy of course requires a skilled and knowledgeable workforce, as such investment in human development is very important to be the main driving force in developing Sarawak.”
Ting said the young generation of Sarawak should therefore be aware of the opportunities that are being provided by the government.
“Surely the younger generation will fill vacancies that will guarantee employment for them,” he said, adding, “we don’t want outsiders to secure employment here with local Sarawakians just being the ‘audience’.”
He called on the young generation to make the most of opportunities and equip themselves with knowledge to develop Sarawak.
Ting said the young are important assets who will shape the direction of the state and the country.
“Therefore, it is very important for the young generation to try as best as possible to take up the opportunities that are provided and contribute to building the state of Sarawak that we love,” he added.
