KUCHING: Sarawak Tourism Board (STB)’s media outreach has garnered over 533 million eyeballs this year, 210 million impressions and RM91 million in public relation (PR) value.

STB’s chief executive officer (CEO) Sharzede Salleh Askor said it was a giant leap from 2023 when the board reached 313 million eyeballs, 92.2 million impressions, and RM39 million in PR value.

“These numbers speak volumes about what we can achieve together (with the media) and a testament to our shared vision and commitment.

“We are deeply grateful for your partnership and your willingness to go above and beyond in your craft,” she said.

She said this in her speech during the STB’s The Soul of Sarawak Media Night at a hotel here last night (Dec 6).

“Together, we will explore new narratives, embrace innovative platforms, and push boundaries to showcase Sarawak’s wonders to an even wider audience.

“Your role (media) will continue to be pivotal as we turn aspirations into accomplishments,” she added.

She said the media played an important role in portraying the true essence of Sarawak, which has resonated with a global audience.

“The year 2024 has been nothing short of extraordinary.

“By mid-November, Sarawak welcomed over 4 million visitors, surpassing its 2024 target with Tourism Receipts of over RM10 Billion by October, exceeding pre-pandemic levels.

“This remarkable milestone reflects not only Sarawak’s allure but also the strength of our collaboration,” she stated.
