State sees decrease in flood evacuees

KUCHING: The number of flood evacuees in Sarawak has continued to decline, from 10,068 at 8 am to 9,312 as of 4 pm today (Feb 3).

A total of 39 temporary evacuation centres (PPS) across seven divisions have been closed since the start of the floods, including those in Kapit, Saratok, Simunjan, Gedong, Asajaya, Bau, and Kuching.

Meanwhile, 42 PPS remain operational in Miri, Beluru, Subis, Sebauh, Bintulu, Tatau, Mukah, Selangau, Dalat, Matu, Sibu, Kanowit, Sebuyau, Samarahan, Siburan, and Serian.

A new PPS has been opened today (Feb 3) at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Sebauh.

At the same time, the centres at Dewan Masyarakat Gedong, Dewan Sri Budaya Kampung Niup, SK Bukit Arip, SK Pangkalan Sorak, Balai Raya Kampung Melayu Balai Ringin, and SK SLDB Ladang 3 Mukah have officially been closed.
