KAPIT: A four-member delegation of the star rating inspectorate led by Adi Azlan Bin Ahmad Othman from the Ministry of Housing, Local Government and Community Wellbeing Kuala Lumpur (KPKT) visited Kapit District Council to conduct the star rating auditing programme on the council.
The three other inspectorate members were Naimurraihan Musa, Rasid Bin Mat Jin and Muhd Khairul Hakimin Bin Mohd Ariffin.
In the previous star rating auditing programme carried out in 2014, Kapit District Council managed to get a 3-star rating with a percentage of 62.59 per cent.
Secretary of the council, Jabang Juntan in his speech said that Kapit District Council has several achievements this year including receiving the 5- star rating for Accountability Index (2016) Award and 41 of its staff received the Excellence Service Award presented by Chief Minister Datuk Amar Abang Johari Tun Openg in Sibu last March.
He also pointed out that Kapit is an area the size of Pahang and added that such factor contributed to the many challenges in providing effective and efficient delivery service to the people in addition to the limited budget and financial constraint.
“Despite such handicapped we are trying our very best to serve the community with creativity and innovation to reduce public complaints and to further improve the services and delivery system,” said Jabang.
On the star rating programme Jabang acknowledged that the council has its own limitations and weaknesses and is ready to accept whatever decision made by the inspectorates on the rating and pledged to further improve in the areas that have been identified by the inspectorate team.
Meanwhile, the head of the inspectorate, Adi Azlan in his speech urged the council to conduct a post mortem to identify its weaknesses and to find ways and means to rectify and improve on the weak documentation especially so in the core business of the organisation.
He added that the official rating for the council would be revealed soonest possible upon the final decision by the board of directors.
Also present were the council’s assistant secretary, Kelimbik Sibat, sectional heads of the council namely the Public Works Section, Public Health, Valuation and Rating, Treasury, Library, Enforcement and other staffers.
