KUCHING: A stall owner was assaulted using a helmet by three men after a misunderstanding.

This occurred at a coffee shop in Jalan Pending on Friday (Nov 7).

District police chief ACP Awang Din Awang Gani said the victim was taking out the trash behind the premises around 9.25pm when he was assaulted.

Apart from being beaten by the group using a helmet, the 51-year-old victim was also punched and slapped.

“It was believed that such incident was due to a misunderstanding between the victim and one of the suspects who is also operating a stall at the same premises.

“As a result of the incident, the victim suffered injuries on his head, face, body and abdomen,” the police chief said.

The suspects believed to be siblings, managed to flee the scene without their vehicles when other stall owners arrived to break up the fight.

Awang Din noted that police were currently searching the suspects based on information obtained at the scene.
