KUCHING: In a spirit of togetherness and celebration, Stakan assemblyman, Datuk Hamzah Ibrahim, hosted an Aidilfitri Open House at Stakan Service Centre, drawing hundreds of residents from the surrounding community.
The event today took place from 11.30 am to 3.00 pm, and people of various backgrounds from within the Stakan constituency enjoyed local delicacies, and strengthened ties in the harmonious spirit of Hari Raya.
Moreover, distinguished guests such as Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof, Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian and Federal Rural and Regional Development Deputy Minister, Datuk Rubiah Wang, were also present.
Puncak Borneo Member of Parliament, Datuk Willie Mongin, and Batu Kitang assemblyman, Datuk Lo Khere Chiang, also joined the celebration to extend festive greetings and mingle with constituents.
The open house was made more special with the arrival of Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg at around 1.30 pm.
Abang Johari was invited on stage to hand over operational grants to ten representatives during the event.
The contributions, totalling RM280,000, were distributed to 70 beneficiaries such as school, mosques, churches, chapels, clubs and village development and security committees (JKKK) around Kota Samarahan.
The Premier together with Hamzah as well as staff and officers from Stakan Service Centre took a group photo before departing from the venue at 2.45 pm.
The event featured an array of traditional Malay delicacies such as satay, lemang, rendang, ketupat and traditional snacks, while local performers kept the crowd entertained.
Many expressed their gratitude to Hamzah for the open house event which has become the highlight of the festive season in Stakan.
The guests were pleased to have the opportunity to meet with their elected representatives in a relaxed and cheerful setting amidst the festive atmosphere.
