KUCHING: The Kuching South City Council (MBKS) Indoor Stadium has officially been handed over to the appointed contractors for upgrading work to host SUKMA 2024 in August.

MBKS mayor Datuk Wee Hong Seng stated the contractors, Liscorp Services and Cottage Holdings Sdn Bhd, would implement the work in two packages with funding from the Ministry of Youth, Sports, and Entrepreneur Development and MBKS.

“The works will focus on the installation of International Basketball Federation (FIBA) level 1 compliant timber sports flooring, painting, renovation of toilets, main doors, gutters and rainwater discharge system, and associated external works around the building,” he said.

With that, Wee said the indoor stadium would be closed for public access effectively from yesterday (Apr 1).

“However, the park and MBKS Sports Village will remain open to the public. I hope for the public’s understanding for any inconvenience caused during this period,” he said.
