SIMANGGANG: Sri Aman Member of Parliament, Datuk Seri Doris Sophia Brodi has unveiled plans to introduce technical training programmes aimed at equipping young people in Sri Aman with essential skills for employment.
In addition to the ongoing recent IT training initiatives for community leaders, she is looking to expand opportunities for school leavers who may not continue their studies to Upper Six.
“This year, I have discussed with my service centre that we will organise at least two more IT training workshops, and of course, continue again next year,” she told Sarawak Tribune during the closing ceremony of the IT empowerment workshop for community leaders on Wednesday (Mar 26).

Beyond IT, Doris is exploring ways to provide practical training in basic technical skills such as wiring, car repairs, and other hands-on trades, specifically targeting Form Five school leavers who may not have the opportunity to further their education.
“For those school leavers who can’t continue to Upper Six, we want to help by giving them basic training so that they have a chance to secure jobs,” she said.
To make these training sessions a reality, she is considering partnerships with local schools and institutions, with the IT workshop already organised in collaboration with Sarawak Skills Sri Aman and future technical training programmes potentially involving CENTEXS, depending on available funding.
“Sarawak Skills and CENTEXS focus on different skill sets, but as I mentioned, everything depends on the funding we have.
“I need to work on securing financial support and allocating resources to ensure these programmes can be implemented,” she said.
Doris reaffirmed her dedication to education and skills development, stating that these causes remain close to her heart.
She also called on district offices and community leaders to support these efforts, ensuring that Sri Aman Mansang Maju (Sri Aman Towards Progress) is more than just a slogan, but a goal that benefits the entire community.
