KUCHING: Sarawak is set to establish a world-class science hub with the upcoming Sarawak Science Centre, one of the three key initiatives led by the Sarawak Research and Development Council (SRDC).
Its general manager, Dr Peter Morin Nissom, said that the centre will be a focal point for technological learning and innovation, offering valuable resources for scientific research.
“You will be able to see this building as you drive out next to Wisma Sumber Alam; it will become a landmark for research and technology learning in Sarawak,” he said.
He made this statement to the media after paying a courtesy visit to the Head of State, Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, today (Jan 9).
In addition to the science centre, Dr Peter mentioned that SRDC is also advancing two other major projects, namely the Sarawak Infectious Disease Center and the Sarawak Micro Semiconductor Design (SMD).
These initiatives are part of SRDC’s broader efforts to enhance the state’s research and development infrastructure.
He asserted that these projects demonstrate the Sarawak Government’s commitment to fostering growth through modern technology and scientific exploration.
On the other hand, Wan Junaidi expressed strong support for SRDC’s initiatives, particularly in the fields of science, technology, and health.
He expressed confidence that these projects would bring substantial benefits to both the state and its people.
