SIBU: The Sibu Rural District Council (SRDC) is distributing calendars to create more awareness among the public on who their zone councillor is.

Chairman Sempurai Petrus Ngelai said through this effort, the public would be able to get information and know who to contact if they encounter any problem.

“If you look at it, you can see a lot of information other than as a calendar, we also add in the zone councillor’s name and their phone number (in the calendar).

“We also include our Facebook page here as well as relevant information about the council,” he said after distributing the calendar to the public in Sibu Jaya here on Thursday (Feb 9).

Sempurai noted that by distributing the calendars, they could meet up with the people on the ground and interact with them as well as convey information on the initiative provided by the government.

“Some 29 councillors are involved in this calendar distribution. We want them to go around and meet the people.

“There is a lot of initiative (being implemented by the government). You (the councillors) have to go on the ground to make sure the public understand them better,” he said.

Also present was SRDC deputy chairman Wong Ching Yong.
