SEBUYAU: Utility and Telecommunication Minister Datuk Seri Julaihi Narawi led the Ziarah Ramadan and corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme at Masjid Darul Aman, Sebangan, spreading festive cheer to the local community.
Organised in collaboration with the Sarawak Digital Economy Corporation (SDEC), the event saw the distribution of 100 food baskets to underprivileged families (asnaf), duit raya for 50 children, and education incentives for 30 students.
The Sebuyau assemblyman highlighted the significance of compassion and generosity during Ramadan, emphasising that such initiatives help ease burdens and bring joy to recipients.
“The essence of Ramadan becomes more meaningful when shared with those in need.
“Acts of kindness — whether through food aid, children’s donations, or education incentives — foster empathy, mutual respect, and love within the community,” he said during the event yesterday (Mar 18).
He also expressed hope that the programme would become an annual tradition, strengthening the spirit of charity and solidarity.
“May we continue this spirit of charity and cooperation, ensuring that our efforts bring blessings and benefits to all, especially in this holy month,” he added.
The event drew over 250 attendees, including representatives from the ministry and SDEC.
As part of the programme, 250 portions of bubur pedas were distributed to the local community.
The gathering continued with a communal breaking of fast (iftar) and concluded with evening prayers, including Maghrib, Isyak, and Tarawih.
In a statement, SDEC reaffirmed its commitment, alongside the Ministry, to sustaining CSR initiatives that promote unity and goodwill.
The corporation also pledged to continue efforts that bring meaningful benefits to underprivileged communities.
