KUCHING: A unique musical extravaganza is planned for the birthday festivities of Governor Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, showcasing a fusion of music, dance, and theatrical performances.

The performance, part of a larger initiative by the P Ramlee Fans Club (KPPR), will include support from notable figures in the arts, such as Adlin Aman Ramli and Datuk Hairul Anwar Saleh from Tanah Air Film.

The event is designed to celebrate both the occasion and the legacy of the legendary artiste Tan Sri P. Ramlee, with the club continuing its important role in enriching cultural events.

Sarawak KPPR president Datuk Dr Adi Badiozaman Tuah noted that the club is frequently invited to key events, including academic programmes and special performances, to introduce and honour P. Ramlee’s invaluable contributions to the Malaysian arts scene.

Adi, the National Education Leadership Icon of 2022, stressed the importance of continuing this tradition with the support of leaders such as the Head of State.

“The P. Ramlee Fans Club has previously carried out similar programmes with past leaders, such as Tun Salahuddin and Tun Abdul Taib Mahmud, to elevate P. Ramlee’s name as an artistic icon and an inspiration to the younger generation.

“P. Ramlee not only produced exceptional works of art but also works that contain high intellectual value, which are still appreciated today,” he told the media after a courtesy visit to Wan Junaidi at his official residence at Kasuma Resort yesterday.

In addition to the performance, Tanah Air Film, working on the “Legasi P. Ramlee” project, plans to produce two biographical films about P. Ramlee over the next two years. The project also includes the creation of podcasts aimed at reviving the timeless works of the national icon.

During the courtesy visit, Wan Junaidi expressed his appreciation for the project and his confidence that it would be a catalyst for preserving and sustaining Malaysia’s artistic heritage.
