KUCHING: The 7th Special Olympics Sarawak State Games 2025 will be held in Kuching from May 2 to 5, featuring seven sporting events.
Women, Early Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development Minister, Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah, announced that the Games will include athletics (track and field), swimming, badminton, bocce, table tennis, tenpin bowling and football.
“For each sport, there will be multiple events,” she said during a press conference at the Baitulmakmur Building II today.
She added that athletics will feature 13 events, swimming 12, badminton 15, bocce four, table tennis four, tenpin bowling three, and football one.
“We look forward to a successful and inspiring event that celebrates the remarkable achievements of our athletes and the spirit of inclusion,” she said.
Fatimah also shared that the State Games will serve as a selection ground for athletes to represent Sarawak at the Special Junior Development Sports Carnival, scheduled for June 28–29 in Ipoh, Perak.

The Games are expected to draw over 800 participants, including athletes, coaches and volunteers from five Special Olympics chapters across the state – Kuching, Kota Samarahan, Sibu, Miri and Bintulu.
“This year, we are welcoming delegates from all over Kuching, Kota Samarahan, Sibu, Miri and Bintulu,” she added.
The main events will be held at several venues: Sarawak State Stadium (athletics and football), Pandelela Rinong Aquatic Centre (swimming and the Healthy Athletes Programme), Yayasan Sarawak International School (bocce and badminton), the Sports Village (table tennis), and Megalanes Emart Batu Kawa (tenpin bowling).
