SIBU: It must be one of his unlucky days for a 33-year-old Indonesian when the bus he was travelling in got involved in an accident and he was the only one injured.

As at press time, it was still unclear as to what had caused the accident or how it had happened but the man was among 12 passengers of the bus that was heading to Kuching from Miri.

The bus met with the accident near Selangau at or about 1.30am and while nothing happened to the other passengers, the 33-year-old Indonesian had to be rushed to Sibu Hospital.

Sibu Central Fire and Rescue Services (Bomba) station upon receiving a report of the incident deployed a fire engine and one Emergency Medical Response Service (EMRS) accompanied by two officers to the scene.

Based on a brief report from Bomba, the rescue team led by Norhasrita Abdul Manan arrived at the scene at about 2.30am.

“All victims were still trapped in the bus when firemen came,” Norhasrita said adding, the bus had crashed and landed on its right side along the Pan Borneo Highway project in Tamin-Selangau section of the road.
