KOTA SAMARAHAN: History was made at SMK Muara Tuang when the results of the Sijil Tinggi Pelajaran Malaysia (STPM) were released yesterday.
The principal, Ahmat Daud Lujum, stated that the results were the best since the school had Form Six in 2013.
“The School Average Grade (GPS) STPM 2018 is the best recorded so far at 2.69 compared to 2016 which was 2.58.
“In fact, it is the first time we managed to produce two students who had a score of 4.0 (full points) after one student did it in 2013,” he said.
He told Suara Sarawak during the presentation of STPM 2018 exam slips to 117 students here earlier today.
According to Ahmat, it is even sweeter when a SMK Muara Tuang science student achieved 4.0 points.
“In Samarahan, only SMK Muara Tuang offers science stream in Form Six and one of the students scored 4.0.
“This is a historic achievement for us and we are very happy,” he said.
He added that for this year, 101 students will sit for the STPM and he hopes that the good results could be repeated.
Meanwhile, the president of the school’s Parent-Teacher Association (PIBG), Nawi Som, said he always worked closely with the school in the organization of various motivational programmes.
“We pay speakers from outside to run additional classes and give incentives to students.
“We are very grateful that the results are very satisfying,” he said.
