KUCHING: Students and staff of SMK Kuching High have been evacuated after the school received a supposed bomb threat via email today (Nov 22).
It was understood that the school received the threat at 11.30am.
According to a WhatsApp message, reportedly from the school’s principal, the threat suggested a safety concern at 3pm.
“For the safety of the students and staff, the school has decided to let afternoon session students leave early.
“If you have any questions, please contact the form teacher,” the message said.
Parents were promptly informed to pick their children up from the school immediately.
It is reported that the police bomb squad and Special Branch personnel are on-site to address the situation.
The police have been contacted for further details into the situation.
This incident follows a similar occurrence yesterday (Nov 21), where classes were halted at 19 schools nationwide due to a bomb hoax email.
Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain said that the affected schools were in Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Johor, Penang, Perak, and Negeri Sembilan.
