SARIKEI: Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Abang Haji Matahir here has celebrated its 100th anniversary, marking a century of excellence in nurturing knowledgeable and morally upright generations.

Urban Planning, Land Administration, and Environment Deputy Minister Datuk Len Talif Salleh stressed that the centennial celebration is not only a reflection of the school’s rich legacy but a reminder to embrace innovation for continued relevance.

Addressing the challenges of globalisation and technological advancement, he advised the school to stay ahead by embracing innovation and preparing students for a competitive world.

He urged alumni to play an active role in the school’s future, whether by mentoring current students or contributing to its development through financial support.

“The history of SK Abang Haji Matahir, which began in 1924, highlights the vital role of education in shaping communities and driving national progress. It has produced countless outstanding individuals who have become key contributors in various sectors across the country.

“This school must continue to be a hub for excellence, shaping resilient and forward-thinking students equipped to face the demands of an ever-evolving landscape,” he said when officiating at the 100th anniversary celebration of SK Abang Haji Matahir here recently.

Len, who serves as the Kuala Rajang assemblyman, also commended the commitment of the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) in fostering a strong bond between parents and educators.

“PTA is the backbone of a school’s development. The collaboration between parents and teachers is crucial in elevating this institution to greater heights,” he added.

Also present were Tanjong Manis MP Yusuf Abdul Wahab, educators, alumni, community leaders, and local residents.
