KUCHING: Sarawak recorded six new Covid-19 fatalities on Monday (April 26), bringing the state’s death toll to 162.
Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) said the 157th death was Case 26,237, a 33-year-old local woman who was found unconscious at home by family members.
“The case was referred to Kapit Hospital for treatment and pronounced dead on April 21. According to family members, the case had fever and cough a few days ago.
“A reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (rT-PCR) test was done and it returned positive on April 21,” SDMC said in its daily Covid-19 update.
The deceased had high blood pressure, diabetes and obesity.
The 158th death was Case 27,069, a 58-year-old local woman who was treated at Kapit Hospital on April 22 for fatigue and breathing difficulties.
“Her rT-PCR test came back positive on April 21. Her health deteriorated and was pronounced dead on April 22.
“The case had high blood pressure, diabetes and heart disease.”
The 159th death—Case 27,049—was a 35-year-old woman who went to a health clinic for registration and pregnancy examination.
The case experienced breathing difficulties at the health clinic. RTK antigen tests were done and she was positive on April 22.
“The case was then referred to Kapit Hospital for treatment and monitoring. She had symptomatic fever, cough and flu for a few days.
“Her health deteriorated and was pronounced dead on April 23. Her rT-PCR test came back positive on the same day. She also had diabetes.”
Meanwhile, the 160th was Case 25,685, a 72-year-old local woman who was found positive on April 17 through active screening detection in a longhouse with RTK antigen method. She was receiving treatment at Kapit Hospital.
The case had symptomatic fever, cough and breathing difficulties.
“She was pronounced dead on April 24 and had high blood pressure, diabetes and dyslipidaemia.”
The 161th death was Case 20,638, a local woman aged 48 who was admitted to Sarikei Hospital as a symptomatic individual screening through rapid molecular test which showed positive on April 12.
“The case had fever and diarrhoea a few days earlier. Her health condition deteriorated and she passed away on April 25.
“She had high blood pressure, diabetes and chronic kidney disease.”
The 162th death was Case 25,993, a 75-year-old local man who was admitted to Bintulu Hospital after he was found unconscious at home by a family member.
According to his medical record, he had cough symptoms two days before. An rT-PCR screen test was done and he was found positive on April 22.
He was pronounced dead on April 25. He had high blood pressure.
