SIMANGGANG: The Borneo Evangelical Mission (BEM) Sri Aman-betong church management has sought assistance in identifying a suitable location for the construction of their church and a pastor’s residence in Simanggang town.

This request was made during a courtesy visit led by Pastor Ajai Janggong to Deputy Minister for Education, Innovation, and Talent Development, Datuk Francis Harden Hollis at the Simanggang community service centre on Friday.

The church group appealed to Harden for assistance in locating an appropriate site for the construction of both the BEM church and the pastor’s residence in the town.

In the meeting, they also shared the pivotal role of the BEM church in nurturing individuals of integrity through the ministry of God’s word, thereby fostering virtuous character traits and mitigating the adverse effects of social media influence.

In response, Harden, who is also the Simanggang assemblyman, advised the church management committee to convene a meeting and formally address the matter (site for construction of church and pastor’s residence) through the meeting minutes.

“Church development is a spiritual endeavour aimed at spreading positive teachings to all members of society.

“It should be supported as it contributes to the cultivation of commendable values and discourages harmful behaviours,” Harden said.

The assemblyman also approved this year’s minor rural project (MRP) allocation for BEM Sri Aman-Betong Church Management Committee (RM2,000), BEM Church Youth Committee (RM2,000), and BEM Church Women Committee (RM2,000).
