SIBU: The Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) Bawang Assan Branch’s mobile service programme at Sibu Central Market today (Jan 5) drew a positive response from the public.a
According to branch chairman, Councillor Kevin Lau, many sought assistance with the Kenyalang Gold Card and Senior Citizen Health Benefits.
“Many people are still unaware of the benefits of the Kenyalang Gold Card, and some haven’t even registered,” he said in a statement.
Lau noted that a common challenge encountered was applicants failing to list beneficiaries on their forms.
“This is a crucial aspect that many overlook, but we are committed to guiding them through the process,” he said.
The programme also offered assistance with updating details on the Sarawak Pay Global app.
This was the first time the service was held in the city centre, making it more accessible to the public.
“We usually conduct these programmes in rural areas, but we wanted to bring the service to a central location and make it open to all,” he said.
He added that the SUPP mobile service team is equipped to address various community issues.
“Residents can approach us with any community-related problems, and our team, comprising community leaders and councillors from the Sibu Rural District Council (SRDC) and Sibu Municipal Council (SMC), will follow up on every issue raised,” he added.
