Simanggang rep reaffirms bridge projects for longhouse folk

SRI AMAN: Community Wellbeing Assistant Minister Datuk Francis Harden Hollis has decided that the wooden bridge over Sungai Beleti will be replaced with a reinforced concrete (RC) bridge.

He made the decision after a visit on Friday to the proposed site where the proposed St Lawrence bridge in Sabu will be built.

The condition of the St Lawrence wooden bridge in Sabu which is proposed to be reconstructed into a RC bridge.

During the site visit to review the proposed bridge project, Harden was accompanied by Public Works Department (JKR) Sri Aman’s divisional engineer Bujang Kanang and assistant divisional engineer Shahbudin Abu Bakar.

The Simanggang assemblyman said the state government under Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) worked to improve the people’s living standard.

“GPS does not only talk and look for cheap-skate publicity. We help the people, help the local community no matter their political alignment,” he said.

Proposed location for the suspension bridge at the Rh Sherit Tambun in Titikah, Batu Lintang Undop.

Apart from the bridge, Harden also visited the proposed site to build a suspension bridge and a small bridge to serve Rh Sherit Tambun in Titikah, Batu Lintang Undop.

He also visited a location for the construction of a suspension bridge to serve Rh Rangga Angkom in Sungai Tenggak and Rh Japing Gema in Nyakai, Jalai Paip.

The small bridge will be repaired and upgraded for the convenience of the longhouse residents.
