KUCHING: Preparation for the Pujut by-election must go on even though both sides await a ruling by the court, said SUPP President and Minister of Local Government and Housing, Datuk Dr Sim Kui Hian.
Sim said he had no clue what caused the sudden cancellation of the State Barisan Nasional (BN) meeting yesterday afternoon.
However, he suspected it might related to the court decision today regarding the summons proceeding filed by former Pujut State Assemblyman, Dr Ting Tiong Choon to challenge the State Legislative Assembly’s (DUN’s) decision to disqualify him as a Member.
“Firstly, it is an unexpected election, and secondly, we need to know what the court decision is.
“But the preparation still has to go on in case if there is an election but if the court decision is otherwise, we will respect it,” Sim told reporters when attending the distribution of “Bubur Lambuk” programme held at Darus Sakinah Mosque in Kampung Sinar Budi Baru, Batu Kawa yesterday.
“After the court decision, we will leave it to the State BN to decide on the matter,” he said.
