MUKAH: It was a quiet and peaceful Christmas here on Friday as there was no crime to report.

Mukah district police chief DSP Jimmy Panyau confirmed that there no cases were reported on Christmas day, which he told New Sarawak Tribune via WhatsApp today.

Meanwhile, Christmas was celebrated on a very moderate scale this year.

This was due to the standard operating procedures (SOPs) that celebrants had to comply with in order to curb the spread of Covid-19.

The church congregation was also limited to a specific number during the Christmas Eve and Christmas Masses.

Open houses were also only allowed to be held on the first day.
