SIBU: The Sibu Parliamentary Constituency Service Centre will be setting up a Sibu Mobile Service Counter on Wednesday (April 16) at Sungai Bidut on the west bank of Sibu to assist the public with applications for the Senior Citizen Health Benefit (SCHB) for the senior citizens.
Irene Wong, Special Assistant to Sibu MP Oscar Ling Chai Yew, stated that the SCHB application is open only to Malaysian citizens aged 60 and above, whose MyKad contains a “K” (indicating Sarawak status) and whose household income is below RM7,000 per month.
Stating that eligible residents from the Sungai Bidut on the west bank of Sibu are encouraged to apply, she reminded applicants they must bring a photocopy of their MyKad.
According to her, the SCHB provides eligible senior citizens with RM500 per year in medical assistance at private clinics to treat minor ailments such as colds, fevers, headaches, diarrhea, vomiting, sprains, and minor injuries.
“Beneficiaries may also visit dental clinics for fillings, tooth extractions, or dentures.
“The mobile service counter will be located at the blue wooden noodle stall opposite Fong Hing Seafood House in Sungai Bidut. The service will operate from 9am to noon and all are welcome to come during this time to process their applications,” Wong added. Enquiries can be channelled via 084-322001.
