SIBU: The Iftar Carnival Ramadan Bazaar Sibu Jaya was a resounding success, drawing a crowd of over 3,000 enthusiastic visitors who arrived as early as 5 pm to soak in the festive atmosphere and break their fast together.
Organised by the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC) in collaboration with the Sibu Jaya community, the event offered a delightful spread of traditional delights, including Kuih Bungko, Kuih Koci, and Kuih Celorot—each a beloved favourite among locals.
The feast extended to savoury dishes such as succulent beef satay, rich Ayam Masak Merah, and the ever-popular Daging Masak Hitam, making for a truly satisfying iftar experience.
MOTAC Minister Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing shared that many residents had expressed their desire for the event to become an annual affair.
“I will do my best to make this a yearly event. I also want to extend my heartfelt appreciation to all the agencies involved, from those who helped prepare the food and decorate the venue to those who ensured everything ran smoothly,” he said.
He made these remarks when speaking to reporters at the event last night (Mar 22).
The spirit of togetherness was evident as families and friends gathered not just at the tables and chairs provided but also on mats they brought themselves, turning the parking lot into a lively communal dining space.
