SIBU: Abang Mohamad Porkan Abang Budiman has been appointed as the new Sibu Resident, effective today.
He previously served as the Sri Aman Division Resident and replaces Datuk Wong Hee Sieng, who has been transferred to the Ministry of Transport Sarawak.
Wong, the outgoing Sibu Resident, now serves as the permanent secretary to the Ministry of Transport Sarawak after serving as Sibu Resident for three years.
The handover ceremony was witnessed by acting Sibu Resident Christopher Ranggau Unting, and took place in the meeting room of the Sibu Division Resident’s Office.
In his speech, Abang Mohamad Porkan expressed his hope that the close cooperation among all officers at the Sibu Resident’s Office would continue for the benefit of the people.
Also present were Sibu District Officer Khalid Andong and Kanowit District Officer Jackline August.
