BINTULU: Incessant rain since noon yesterday caused several areas here, including three villages, to be flooded.

The affected vilages are Kg Asyakirin, Kg Kemunting and Sungai Sebatang.

However, despite the flood, no evacuation was reported.

Sarawak Disaster Relief Management committee secretary Maj Ismail Mahedin said a woman and her one-month-old infant were rescued from her house along Sungai Sebatang yesterday.

“She is currently staying with a neighbour,” said Maj Ismail.

In Sungai Sebatang, three houses were flooded by ankle-deep water.

Meanwhile, several parts in Bintulu town were also flooded. Heavy rain since morning had left roads flooded.

Among the roads were Jalan Tun Datuk Patinggi Ahmad Zaidi (near Bintulu Civic Centre) and Medan Jaya Commercial Centre at Jalan Tun Hussein Onn.
