KUCHING: Seven individuals of various foreign nationalities were arrested by the Sarawak Immigration Department during a one-day operation on Thursday (Dec 12).

The operations targeted eateries, convenience stores and hotels in Matang, Petra Jaya and Padungan areas.

Acting on complaints and gathered intelligence, the Kuching Immigration Enforcement Unit arrested seven individuals for offences such as overstaying, lacking valid travel documents, and failing to secure proper permits to reside in Malaysia.

The detainees are being investigated under the Section 6(1)(c) and Section 15(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63.

In light of this, the public is encouraged to report any information regarding the presence of undocumented migrants in their areas through online channels or directly to the nearest Immigration Enforcement Office.
