Serian villagers receive ’korban’ meat

KUCHING: Several villages in Serian here received ‘korban’ (sacrificial) meat in conjunction with the Hari Raya Aidiladha celebration today (July 31).

Yayasan Budi Ihsan Malaysia  contributed three cows to the committee of  Kampung Angkat Saudara Kita Programme (ProKASK) Serian branch.

The committee also received four more cows from Shariah and Halal Compliance Department, Astana Negeri office and individuals.

The sacrificial meat was then distributed to various villages, namely Kampung Ensebang Jaya, Kampung Ensebang Kuari, Kampung Tong Nibong, Kampung Sungai Buloh, Kampung Darul Imam, Kampung Darul Falah, Kampung Kuhom, Kampung Darul Huda and Kampung Insan Jaya.

The slaughtering of the cows was led  by Ustaz Morshidi July who is the Islamic Religious Department Serian officer. He  represented the chairman of Yayasan Buda Ihsan Malaysia.

Later,  Morshidi also distributed food baskets to the local ‘asnaf’ (needy folk). The food baskets contained essential food items such as rice, eggs, bread and others.

Islamic Affairs Department Sarawak (JAIS) also presented RM2,000 for the purpose of organising the programme. ProKASK  is a programme initiated by JAIS ini 2012  and consisted  of  the mosque or surau management committees which look after welfare matters.
