SERIAN: The Serian Health Clinic, the first integrated healthcare facility of its kind here, with the project costing RM23.88 million, is set to provide essential healthcare services to local residents, reducing the need for long travel to other medical centres.
The new facility is expected to alleviate pressure on existing healthcare providers, ensuring that more people can access quality care closer to home.
The clinic was officially handed over by the Public Works Department (JKR) Sarawak to the Sarawak State Health Department today.
Completed in January under the 10th Malaysia Plan (4th Planning Cycle), the Serian Health Clinic offers a comprehensive range of services, including a Maternal and Child Health Unit, Outpatient Department, Pharmacy, Laboratory, Emergency Unit, Radiology Unit, and Dental Clinic.
Equipped with advanced medical technology, the clinic features a Canon X-ray machine from Japan, which will enhance diagnostic capabilities for conditions such as pneumonia and bone fractures.
Additionally, it boasts five dental chairs, including a Specialist Dental Chair imported from Italy, designed for more complex dental procedures.
The key handover ceremony was attended by John Ilus, State assemblyman for Bukit Semuja, Meehan Jorai, acting director of Public Works Sarawak, Dr Veronica Lugah, director of the Sarawak State Health Department, Caroline Cleophas Joseph, Serian Division resident, and Natasha Tiong Nulie, acting Serian district officer.
