MIRI: The Sepupok Health Clinic project has been approved under Rolling Plan (RP) 3, signifying a crucial stage in its development.
Federal Health Deputy Minister Datuk Lukanisman Awang Sauni said during this phase, preliminary works would be undertaken, focusing on essential aspects such as land survey work, designing the layout, and assessing the suitability of the land for construction.
“These initial steps are fundamental in laying the groundwork for the successful execution of the project,” Lukanisman who is also Sibuti MP told the local media.
He was met at the Hari Raya open house for Sibuti parliamentary constituency in Bekenu multi-purpose hall on Saturday.
Once completed, he said the Sepupok Health Clinic is slated to be classified as a Type 3 clinic and will be equipped with healthcare facilities, catering to the healthcare needs of the local population effectively.
He said conducting thorough land surveys ensures that the chosen site meets all necessary requirements and regulations, while careful design planning lays the foundation for an efficient and functional healthcare facility.
Lukanisman added that the tendering process for the construction of the much-anticipated Sepupok Health Clinic is expected to commence at the end of this year.
“By 2025, it is hoped that a contractor will be identified for the project. Once the contractor is selected, the construction phase will begin, which is estimated to take approximately 36 months to complete,” he disclosed.
“Sepupok Health Clinic is to become fully operational when this current term is over,” he pointed out.
The Sepupok Health Clinic is presently operating out of a shoplot in Sepupok Bazaar on a temporary basis.
On another note, he said the Sarawak State Secretary and chief secretary to the federal government are to establish a special task force dedicated to distributing specific allocations for the construction of dilapidated schools and clinics in Sarawak.
“This force embodies a strategic approach to address pressing infrastructure needs in the state, emphasising the importance of education and healthcare accessibility.
“The formation of a task force to devise a financial mechanism for building dilapidated schools and healthcare facilities marks a proactive step towards addressing critical infrastructure needs in Sarawak,” he said.

Over 1,000 Sibuti constituents from near and far attended the event.
