KUCHING: A meeting to coordinate the upgrading works of Sentosa Hospital facilities was held on Thursday between the officers of hospital, Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) and Kota Sentosa assemblyman Wilfred Yap.

The meeting at the Kota Sentosa service centre was to finalise technical aspects of the hospital’s upgrading project including the bill of quantities, scope of works and technical design drawings for the additional car parks.

Also included were the upgrading works of tiling, partitioning and the installation of sliding windows as well as eleven 1.5 hp air conditioners for the occupational therapy hall of Sentosa Hospital.

“Similarly, the unsatisfactory condition of the occupational therapy hall and the lack of parking spaces as well as people parking at the roadside causing traffic inconveniences to visitors and outpatient seeking treatment at Sentosa Hospital was addressed.

“This was first brought to my attention last year whereby a request for funding was made by the hospital. An amount of RM400,000 under the Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) was approved for this purpose.

“This still requires the approval from the Ministry of Health and will be implemented soonest for the benefit of staff, patients and visitors,” Yap said in a statement.

At the same time, the assemblyman acknowledged several poor and unsatisfactory infrastructure in certain areas of his constituency which requires attention.

He appealed for patience from members of the public as many problems that plagued the constituency had been outstanding and existed long before he was elected.

“I am fully committed with his socio-economic agenda for Kota Sentosa to ensure that it continues to progress and prosper.

“This is so that the people can enjoy the benefits of a well-planned, holistic and inclusive economic growth and development leading towards more business and job opportunities in his constituency,” he said.
