KUCHING: Some 30 senior citizens were in a cheerful and joyous mood during their pre-Christmas gathering cum-potluck lunch at a hotel here, today.
Sarawak Gerontology and Geriatrics Society (SGGS) president Dennis Tan said the occasion was to renew bonding and friendship among the seniors, many of whom are retired professionals and businessmen.
”This is the kind of event that we will continue to organise for the seniors to mingle with one another,” he said before the start of the potluck lunch.
“Let us all share this joyous moment as we remember the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ,” he said.
Christmas songs filled the room throughout the duration of the gathering that lasted three hours.
Many also took to the floor to dance as the Christmas songs were played.
Tan said he plans to organise more lunch or dinner gatherings next year, such as before the Chinese New Year, Hari Raya and Gawai Dayak celebrations.
