SARATOK: Parents should not hesitate to send their children to participate in mass circumcision programmes held during the school holidays.

Kalaka assemblyman Mohamad Duri said apart from saving money, it reduces the children’s fear because there are other friends of the same age who join them.

“Also, most of these mass circumcision programmes are sponsored by certain parties such as in Saratok where the cost is borne by my service centre.

“Through a programme like this, certified officers are held responsible for completing circumcision activities. Therefore, there is no need to worry. I am confident that it follows the procedures that have been outlined,” he said.

He said this when asked about the Circumcision Day Programme organised by the Medical Islamic Welfare Association of the State Health Department (Perkip) Saratok Branch, which is supported by his service centre.

He said the programme involved children from SK Abang Abdul Rahman and the SJKC Min Syn.

Mohamad also reminded parents to be prepared for their children’s development, especially after circumcision.

“In the growing age, parental supervision is very important. Sometimes children when circumcised will consider themselves out of childhood, and free to do anything.

“Therefore, the responsibility of parents to guide their children on religious matters is very important,” he added.

A similar programme will take place in Kampung Perpat on Jan 25.
