KUCHING: With Covid-19 still around, life is not going to return to normal that fast.

Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) advisor Datuk Seri Dr Sim Kui Hian, in saying this, stressed that as Covid-19 was not going to go away overnight, apart from getting vaccinated, the people needed to incorporate all the non-pharmaceutical interventions and public health measures to curb Covid-19.

“We need to change our lifestyle by practising self-discipline as we are not going back to our old ways sooner yet.

“Secondly, there must be government enforcement on community self-regulation in our post Covid-19 vaccination era,” he said in a Facebook post on Friday (Sept 3).

He added that it was unprecedented in the history of the world for mankind to come together and develop the Covid-19 vaccines in such a record time.

“The vaccines are lifesaving pharmaceutical options that the majority of the world population still ‘tengok sahaja’ (see only),” he said.

Dr Sim added that many countries recently also found that two doses of vaccination were not good enough to stop the surging cases due to the Delta variant.

“As such, they have begun giving the third vaccine dose or booster dose for the elderly and vulnerable,” he said.

Dr Sim added that the booster dose was good to decrease severity of the disease and deaths.

“Let’s play our roles, do our part and not panic or be misled by fake news,” he said.
