KUCHING: Tengku Permaisuri of Selangor, Her Royal Highness Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin, graciously visited the Sarapride Songket Industrial Vocational Centre (PVI) at Puncak Borneo Prison today.

During her visit, she marveled at the intricate weaving process and admired the exquisitely crafted songket fabrics.

Her Royal Highness arrived promptly at 10 a.m. and received a warm welcome from Datin Melinda Claudia Bucking, the spouse of Deputy Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry, and Performing Arts II, Datuk Snowdan Lawan.

Accompanying her were esteemed figures including the Chairperson of Sarawak Media Group (SMG), Datuk Norhyati Ismail; the Chairperson of the Sarawak State Public Service Commission, Datuk Dr Sabariah Putit; and the Director of the National Department for Culture and Arts (JKKN) Sarawak, Noor Seela Noor Sulaiman.

The visit commenced with a concise briefing delivered by Inspector Zul Fikri Muhamat, Assistant Chief of the Vocational Industry Unit at Puncak Borneo Prison.

Following the briefing, Her Royal Highness proceeded to the songket weaving area to observe a demonstration of the weaving process performed by the clients of Puncak Borneo Prison.

Subsequently, Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin and her entourage were guided to the exhibition hall, where completed songket weavings were displayed, before partaking in a modest luncheon at Puncak Borneo Prison.

She graced the venue for about an hour before departing for her next engagement, which included a visit to Kek Lapis Warisan Sdn Bhd.
