KUCHING: A special event, Sekoh Raya: Tang Raya Jak Siya, is taking place at The Hills from March 14 until the end of Ramadan.

The pop-up event features the Bazaar Raya, art performances and an exclusive baju raya exhibition displaying traditional, contemporary and modern designs.

“One of the main highlights of the inauguration ceremony is the exhibition of exclusive baju raya and baju kurung collections, ranging from traditional to contemporary and modern styles.

“The public is encouraged to attend in their best festive attire and take photos at the specially prepared photobooth and styling corner,” according to a press release yesterday.

A key highlight is the inauguration ceremony at 4.30 pm on March 16, where attendees will witness the exclusive screening of Riuh Raya, a new festive song performed by a mix of young and veteran local artists, including Arabyrd, Ila Damiaa and Safar Ghafar.

The song, written by Arabyrd, Ila Damiaa and Safar Ghafar, was composed and fully produced by Emansushii, recorded at AOK Records, and accompanied by a music video produced by ASA ESA FILMS.

Arabyrd said that the original idea behind the song was to blend the old and the new while celebrating the traditions, culture and customs of Hari Raya.

“I wanted to create a song that gives people a ‘feel-good’ vibe, without relying on the viral formula or simply sampling old chorus melodies.

“So, together with Ila and Abang Safar, we worked to create an original new song.

“Once completed, we submitted it to Universal Music Malaysia, and we are grateful they accepted it.

“From the songwriting to the production of the music video, this project is fully driven by Sarawakian talents,” she said.

She also hoped that this  song reaches every Malaysian while also promoting Sarawak’s culture and language.

“Simply put, we want to show that Sarawak can do it too,” she said.
