SARIKEI: Members of the public are welcome to participate in the 2019 Sarikei District Council (MDS) Sebangkoi Challenge cycling race scheduled from Aug 17-18.

MDS chairman Wong Zee Yeng said the event aims to provide new exposure to bicycle enthusiasts as well as a platform for new talents to be featured in the race.

He added that it also aims to encourage community participation in healthier activities through sports.

“Through this event, we want to increase the spirit of unity and goodwill among the participants. Entry forms are available at Sing Kwong Hock Lee bike shop in Jalan Repok, Sarikei or register online,” he said.

The event is co-organised by the Sarawak Cycling Association (SCA), the Ministry of Local Government and Housing Sarawak (MLGH), the Ministry of Tourism, Arts, Culture, Youth and Sports Sarawak (MTACYS) and various other agencies.

The race is divided into five categories namely men’s open, women’s open, men’s veterans, junior open and Sarikei Closed.
