MUKAH: A search and rescue (SAR) operation has been activated after a fisherman was reported missing while fishing at Sungai Jebungan this morning (Oct 8).

A spokesman from the Sarawak Fire Department operations centre said the victim was identified as Mohd Rashid Abdullah, aged 42.

Firemen from Mukah station were deployed to the scene after receiving a distress call around 10.20am.

Upon arriving, the team found the man’s empty boat.

As at press time, the victim is yet to be found.
