SONG: A search and rescue (SAR) operation has been launched this morning to look for a man who went missing after the longboat he was travelling in with six others capsized in Nanga Sungai Song last night (Feb 12).

Firemen from Song station were alerted to the incident around 11.15pm of a boat which sunk at the Song estuary.

It was reported that the victim along with six others were on their way to Song town from Rh Ekeh Nanga Pan.

“Six of them managed to save themselves, while a male victim is still feared missing.

“After receiving the report, a team went to the town wharf to seek help from the public to ferry the survivors using a boat as two of them were still unconscious,” he said.

As soon as they arrived at the wharf, the survivors were promptly taken to the Song health clinic for treatment.

The survivors’ identities were not revealed by the authorities.
