Search for missing hunter launched

KAPIT: A Search and Rescue (SAR) team was looking for a missing person at Dugan Hill, Rumah Wong Nanga Malai Katibas, Song yesterday.

The missing person was identified as Daun Pau, 48.

The State Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) operation centre received a call from Song Police headquarters on the incident at 7.35pm on Saturday.

Bomba personnel rushed to the scene in a long boat belonging to the People’s Volunteer Corps (Rela) after receiving a call on the first day of the operation.

The journey to the location took about nine hours on the Katibas River.

According to a report from Daun’s sibling, at 1.30pm on Friday, Daun went hunting in the jungle within an hour‘s journey from their longhouse.

His sibling lodged a police report on Saturday. The victim has yet to be found at press time.
