SELANGAU: The upgrading work in Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Dijih is expected to be completed in October 2023, says Aidel Lariwoo.
According to the Deputy Minister for Infrastructure and Ports Development, the project which was funded under phase 2 package 12 RM1 billion contra loan payment by the Sarawak government faced a slight delay due to the change of construction site.
“We anticipated a slight delay of two per cent in the project. Currently, it is 10 per cent completed however according to the plan it should be 12 per cent,” he said when met by the media during the project site inspection at SK Dijih, yesterday.
Aidel noted that the project includes the construction of one block equipped with 12 classrooms, two dormitory blocks, a dining hall, and one pump house block.
“This project is funded under the phase 2 package 12 RM1 billion contra loan payment by the Sarawak government together with upgrading work in SK Dua Sungai and SK Kampung Petanak in Mukah with a total allocation of RM21,892,100,” he said.
Meanwhile, SK Dijih headmaster Nyuwak Selan said that the school currently accommodates a total of 374 students.
“Out of the numbers, only 53 of them (students) could live in the dormitory due to the limited facilities so with the completion of the new two dormitory blocks later, we hope that we can accommodate more students.
“We thank the government for their continuous effort in making sure that our students can study in a comfortable and conducive environment,” he said.
Earlier, Aidel also visited two other schools that are undergoing upgrading and repairs which is SK Penghulu Imban and SK Batu 36 in Selangau.
