MIRI: Sarawak’s success as a state is reflected in its economic performance, which has recently earned recognition from the World Bank as a high-income state, says Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.
“We, in the government, are all the same – there is no 40 per cent, 30 per cent, or 20 per cent, because we, irrespective of races, work hard together.
“The Cabinet system is a collective responsibility, this includes everyone, even the deputy ministers.
“So, the real rating is whether our economy is doing well or not. Today, the World Bank has recognised Sarawak as a high-income economy. That’s the outcome, that is the rating.”
He said this during the official launch of the Marudi Bridge here on Friday (Jan 17).
Abang Johari, who is also the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) chairman, further reiterated that his colleagues have worked hard and made sure there is development implemented for the people in their respective constituencies.
“Therefore, we must not let ourselves be divided. Unity makes our work easier and even the pursuit of resources becomes simpler.
“If we fight among ourselves, how can we succeed in finding resources? Without money, progress halts. So, let’s protect our unity, and place our trust in God Almighty, who will guide us.”
Earlier, Deputy Minister for Public Health, Housing and Local Government and Marudi assemblyman Datuk Dr Penguang Manggil said he will continue to deliver his best for his constituents.
“On my part and despite of being rated failure by a survey recently conducted by a professor, I will continue to do my level best.
“We will not be perturbed or distracted by his rating. In fact, it will motivate me to work harder to serve my constituents, who would be in the best position to assess whether or not I have done justice to the votes they have cast,” he said.
Recently, a professor conducted a survey and collected responses from Dayak netizens on the approval ratings of 18 selected Dayak ministers and deputy ministers at the federal and state levels.
