KUCHING: Sarawak has received praise from neighbouring ASEAN countries for its people-focused initiatives.
According to Deputy Minister in the Premier’s Department (Law, MA63 and State-Federal Relations), Datuk Sharifah Hasidah Sayeed Aman Ghazali, Sarawak’s efforts under the Post COVID-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030 have drawn positive attention and commendation from ASEAN member states.
“During the recently concluded Women Parliamentarians of ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (WAIPA) 2025, representatives from countries such as Timor-Leste, Indonesia, Cambodia and others expressed their admiration
“They were not only impressed with Malaysia as a whole but specifically praised Sarawak when I presented the PCDS 2030 and highlighted the state’s free tertiary education programme.
“They were truly inspired by our achievements and showed interest in learning from our approach,” she said.
Hasidah said this in her speech during the school uniform handover ceremony for Yayasan Kemajuan Insan Sarawak (YAKIN) students held at Wisma Adenan, Yayasan Sarawak today.
She also encouraged the students to explore opportunities in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM), or pursue any field they are passionate about.
Hasidah noted that Yayasan Sarawak has long been committed to supporting the educational advancement of Sarawakians.
“Yayasan Sarawak has played a significant role in shaping many successful Sarawakian individuals.
“Therefore, I urge all of you to study hard and stay dedicated in whatever field you choose, so that you can contribute meaningfully to Sarawak’s future,” she said.
